In den 20er- und 30er-Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts erlebte der (noch junge) Jazz in Amerika mit dem Swing, den Big Bands um Berühmtheiten wie Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong oder Count Basie, seinen ersten Höhepunkt. In dieser Atmosphäre, die jenseits der damaligen Rassen-Ressentiments eine Mischung verschiedener Kulturen ermöglichte, entwickelte sich in den Ballsälen New Yorks der Lindy Hop. Ein Paartanz, der als Vorläufer des Jives, des Boogie-Woogies und des Rock'n'Rolls zählt.
Heutzutage wird Lindy Hop in allen größeren Städten getanzt und findet oftmals auch im Freien statt. Lindy Hop bedeutet vor allem: Spaß haben, kreativ sein und mit anderen Tänzer_innen in Kontakt kommen. Lasst euch von der Tanzfreude anstecken. Es handelt sich um einen sozialen Tanz, bei dem die Paarzusammensetzung sowie die Rollen (Lead & Follow) mehrmals wechseln. Der Lindy Hop GK I und II sind für alle Personen ohne tänzerischer Vorerfahrung aus diesem Paartanz (beide Kurstermine bauen nicht aufeinander auf und sind entsprechend komplette Anfänger*innen geeignet), während der Lindy Hop FA für Tänzer sind, die entweder bereits unseren Lindy Hop GK gemeistert haben, oder bereits anderweitig Erfahrungen sammelten.

Bitte bequeme, saubere Schuhe mit einer eher flachen Sohle mitbringen (z.B. geputzte Chucks) sowie eine Wasserflasche, die nicht aus Glas besteht.

In the 1920s and 1930s, the (still young) jazz in America experienced its first peak with swing, the big bands around celebrities like Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong or Count Basie. In this atmosphere, which allowed a mixture of different cultures beyond the racial resentments of the time, the Lindy Hop developed in the ballrooms of New York. A couple dance, which counts as a precursor of the Jive, the Boogie-Woogie and the Rock'n'Roll.
Nowadays Lindy Hop is danced in all larger cities and often takes place outdoors. Lindy Hop means above all: having fun, being creative and getting in touch with other dancers. Let yourself be infected by the joy of dancing. It is a social dance where the couple composition as well as the roles (lead & follow) change several times. The Lindy Hop GK I and II are for all people without previous dance experience from this couple dance (both course dates do not build on each other and are therefore suitable for complete beginners), while the Lindy Hop FA is for dancers who have either already mastered our Lindy Hop GK or have already gained experience elsewhere.

Please bring comfortable, clean shoes with a rather flat sole (e.g. polished Chucks) as well as a water bottle that is not made of glass.
