Kurstext:
Sprache:
Dieser Kurs wird auf Deutsch geleitet.
Registration information:
You must register before the program begins. There is a participation fee.
Course description:
Scottish Country Dancing is a traditional Scottish dance culture that is still practised today and has since spread internationally: “rooted in tradition, ever evolving”. The dances are performed in sets, each consisting of three or four couples. There are no fixed partners, and the terms “Man” and “Woman” are only used in the dance instructions. Everyone is welcome to dance on either side of the set. In this course, we will learn a few basic steps that we need to move through a dance. We will then focus on learning a variety of different figures, which are performed as a group and form the building blocks of the dances.
The social aspect and the shared joy of dancing are at the heart of Scottish Country Dancing. Traditional Scottish music, with its jigs, reels and strathspeys, carries us energetically, and sometimes more elegantly, through the evening. No previous experience is necessary.
Bring along:
Comfortable clothing and suitable dancing shoes. Ballet slippers or similar footwear work wonderfully, but you can also join in wearing other dance shoes (without heels), trainers with soft soles or even just socks. Please also bring something to drink.
Language:
This course is taught in German.
